Things to do

We provide a detailed Guide of recommendations which we wil provide on booking, but for now here is a taster of things that are available to do/see.

Newlyn Beach: to reach the beach simply cross the road using the pedestrian crossings, either hop over the wall on to Newlyn Green or walk down Tolcarne Terrace alongside Newlyn Art Gallery, walk along the railings and go down the steps on to the beach. At mid-to-low tide the rock pools provide hours of fascination. Depending on the tide, you can either walk or swim along part of the route of the old sea road from Newlyn to Penzance.

Tate St Ives  is well worth a visit, as is the Barbara Hepworth Garden .

Newlyn Art School  has some great courses which are all taught by well known local artists.

Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange offer a wide and varied programme showcasing national and international contemporary art.

Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn is run by Benn Tunnicliffe and is recommended for fresh fish.

Minack Theatre is a world famous open air theatre built on the cliffs over Porthcurno beach.

St Michael’s Mount is the iconic landmark castle that rises out of Mount’s Bay and lies on one of Britain’s most prominent ley lines.

Go to the beach: we have some of the finest in the World, check these out.

Go for a walk: we also have some of the best walks in the World, the South West Coast Path is a good place to start.

Penlee House is Penzance’s gallery and Museum located in Penlee Gardens and has the Bodrifty  artefacts in it’s collection. It is the only Cornish public gallery specialising in the Newlyn School artists (c1880 – 1940)
